Rome / Naples / Home

by Luke on Jul.11, 2009, under Europe Trip

Roma day 2
Well on our last official day of home, we went to the Vatican, where we saw a huge church and some Swiss guard people. Not a lot to say other then the fact that it was quite epic.

Rome Day 3
That day we went to the Sistine Chapel because it was closed on the day we did the Vatican. It was a huge cluster fuck. The food was expensive as hell. That day we got the Train to Naples, then the metro to Sorrento. Was a reasonably scenic

Naples/Sorrento
Well the day after we got there we went to Pompai, were we spent 3/4 hours looking around the vast town that was owned when Mt Vesuvius erupted in like 79 AD.

Naples/Sorrento Day 2
The next day we took a Taxi like thing up to Mount Vesuvius. It was like the craziest taxi drive I’ve ever been on, with the dude always trying to overtake coaches and stuff up a winding path up to Vesuvius. Once up there though it was cool, although the walk to the cratr view palce thiung was a killer, my back hurt like a SOB. The view form up there was awesome.

Home
Next day = Home :) A bus from sorrento to Naples airport, then a 2 hour 30 mins plane to Gatwick. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cool English weather yay

Pics coming up soon of the rest of the trip, going to try and combine mins and Lukes pics and put them on the website itself soon though.

Rome

by Luke on Jul.05, 2009, under Europe Trip

So after a 7 hour train ride, we arrived in rome. It is probaly the dirty, graffetti, unclean city ever. Which is a shame because there is sooooo much to do here and a lot of tours, museams and history. Just unfortunate that you have to see past all the shit surroundings to enjoy it.

We arrived late so we walked along the street across the beach (we’re staying quite far outside of rome), and we got some food and a beer. Nothing too epic to be honest.

The next day we woke up with like nearly no humidity, which was awesome. After a 30 min trip into the city centre, we got on a tour bus. 2 hours later we’d seen all the cool stuff in Rome. We got off I had some pretty tasty spaghetti bolognase and a fried pumpkin flower?
Dunno where they came up with the idea to fry that, but it was alright.
We then got back on the tour bus and got off at the colluseam, we couldn’t go in for about an hour though cos the Chinese President just happened to pick today for his visit.
After that we got back on the tour bus and got off at the Trivi fountain place, gazed at it then came back. A fun packed day. Woo

Sorry for the spelling mistakes that are bound to be in here, I typed this in internet exploder not chrome, so my bad spelling could not be corrected easily.

And FYI i’ll be in the UK from the 10th of Juy at about 1pm. =]

Farewell chaps

Venice and Pisa

by Luke on Jul.04, 2009, under Europe Trip

So, after a sleepless train ride due to some guy in our cabin that sounded like a lawnmower eating a giant slug-rabbit, we arrived in Milan. Our time there was epic. We had a chicken burger thing for breakfast, then we left.

A train later we arrived, in Venice. And we did a huge walk around in a circle to find the hostel we were staying in as the map was complete horse shit. Seemed like that got the compass on the map wrong, and we were always going in the wrong direction. Luckily we found a woman who spoke pretty good English to put us in the right direction.

Then we arrived….. AIR CON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a well deserved nap we went out for some foods. Luke got a cold lasagne, and I got some pretty tasty pasta.

The next day we actually went to Venice itself, it was pretty. We walked around a lot. We found a really cheap place were for about 3 euros we got a huge slice of pizza and some coke. We then walked some more and stumbled on a Da Vinchi museums, that showed a lot of his inventions and ideas from his huge book of notes. He was mad though, he wrote backwards. But that was pretty much Venice, soooooo many tourists and sooooo many places to buy ice cream and these little mask things. I don’t know what the deal is with the masks, if anyone does know, please enlighten me.

The next day we left for Pisa, and got there later afternoon. We went to the obvious place, the leaning tower, and took some piccys. it was pretty epic. From most of the pictures I’d seen in the past of the tower, it didn’t seem to lean that much, but once you’re there. wow. It’s intense. They had been cleaning off all the buildings as well, so everything there looked pretty. After gazing at the tower for 30 mins, we went for something to eat. I has some spicy pepperoni pizza, which wasn’t spicy at all. Then Luke spilt beer on himself, and it looked like he wet himself. Then we headed back to our guest house place thing, waited for 30 mins as we had no key, and the 2 other guests let us in.

Anyway, all the pics are up to date so click photos at the top to have a ganders,

Coming home on the 10th of July, should be back in Lindford on the 11th, but wont know for sure till I get there.

Ciao for noq

Barcelona

by Luke on Jun.29, 2009, under Europe Trip

Left Spain yesterday, and now i’m in Barcelona.

Weather is pretty nice, went to see the cathedral they have been building forever, then went for a meal. We ordered 2 tapas and a plate of paella. Normally this meal is for 1 person, so we split it so save monies and loose weights. However they charged us 7 euros for a Drink each. A fanta…. So my respect for Barcelona went down a tad.

Anyway, going to the beach tomorrow to chill out and finish the Da Vinchi Code. Then we leave at 19.30 on a night train to Venice! Yay

End of Porto/Spain Again

by Luke on Jun.26, 2009, under Europe Trip

So the last nights of portugal was pretty fun.

On the way back to Porto from the country house, we stopped off to go across the worlds longest zipline, which is like from one mountain to another. Tried to find a pic, but there are a lot of other places that claim to have the longest, but where i went it was long, so ner.

We also got to see a vineyard that Filipes family own. And we got some green wine, which is a different taste of wine.

The last 2 nights spend in the hostel were cool, breakfast in the mornings; I indulgeded lots (ps I made that word up btw, go me).
We took 2 tours of Porto, one by boat and one by car train thing.

Then it was time to leave Porto. So we got the night train to Madrid, a rather sleepness night, and then a 3 hour speed train right to the south tip of Spain: Malaga. Then my Grandparents picked us up from teh airport and we came back to their house in Estepona. Right now, i’m sitting on the balcony of my Grandparents, looking at the sea, Gibraltar and Morocco.

Today though, we got up, and went to Gibraltar, which is I guess, an English colony that English peoples can has for strateejic mealitterry thingz. And while there I FOUND OUT ABOUT MJ OH KNOWS.

Anyway, looks like i’m going to cut my trip short, turns out to eat less then I would normally still costs lots of moneys, and I don’t want my overdraft to get owned. So i’m probs going to be back in July :)

I can always finish the trip in a year or 2, at least I am prepared…

Pics coming as soon as Luke has finished his.

Tata
